Our Story

2013

A local travel team needed a place to hit for the winter. Cages take up space and the only space we could afford was for $0. We were able to find a small corner of a printing facility that was available. We put up the first cage – a store bought outdoor cage - and the boys had a place to hit. While it wasn't ideal, The Yard had its foundation and we had someplace to train.

2015

As our travel team had some success, we had area athletes begin requesting hitting lessons . Adam Gold began giving lessons after hours and working primarily with local baseball players looking to improve their swing mechanics.

2016

As requests for training grew, we realized The Yard needed more space. Luckily the print facility was vacating the current space, and The Yard expended into 17,000 square feet and invested in 4 batting cages.  That space became what is currently The Yard today.

Adam Gold and Pete Lauritson write the first 8 week SwingFaster program focused on increasing bat speed, exit velocity, and total distance.  The program continues to grow each year, and has now transitioned into a 12 month membership class utilizing monthly programming, HitTrax data, and Blast Motion swing data.

Cody Meyer also joined the team and our performance training programs were born.  Cody her helped 100’s of local athletes reach their training goals and our performance training area continues to grow with more space and more equipment.

The Outlaw program started in January of this year with our first travel team.  In the last three years the program has grown to include players from 8 towns ranging in age from 9 to 14.  Our approach to travel baseball is focused on training and fundamentals and providing an opportunity for all kids to have access to travel baseball.

2020

With momentum on our side and our membership increasing, we took the opportunity and invested in a second HitTrax simulator, 4 new cages, new programming and became a member only facility – a goal of ours from the beginning.  The future looks bright!
